Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Pilates

  • Pilates can be described in 3 words – strength, stretch, and control. It is a practice that can be done for a lifetime that is an excellent form of cross-training assisting with; injury prevention, muscular balance, spinal alignment, strengthening, and more. Our classical Pilates studio is fully equipped with Gratz Pilates Equipment. Instructors are comprehensively certified. Certifications require a minimum of 600- 800 hours. Pilates Method Explained

  • There's definitely a mind-body connection and a very similar fluidity in both. While Pilates does include some yoga techniques, it was developed specifically for fitness and physical therapy.
Pilates focuses on movement rather than the holding of postures. The breathing techniques are also different; you are asked to draw in your abdominals rather than let them expand with the breath.

  • Once a week is great if your schedule is busy, but 2-3 times a week often produces the best results. “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness” - Joseph Pilates

  • Pilates focuses on controlled movement and breathing. You will be engaging your core muscles and supporting your spine. It is strongly recommended to start with Private sessions. Our Introductory package includes 4 Private Sessions to help you start your Pilates Journey as a beginner. You will learn the Pilates principles, how to perform each exercise, and safely use each apparatus in the classes. Each individualized session will reveal your body’s strengths and weaknesses.

  • Clients often feel and notice the effects of Pilates after their first session. The more consistent you are, the more likely you will see results. We offer Small Group Equipment, Mat, Semi-Private (Duets and Trios) and Private Sessions.

According to Joseph Pilates, “In 10 classes, you will feel the difference; in 20 classes, you will see the difference, and in 30 classes, you will have a whole new body.”

  • Pilates is a full-body workout designed to keep you safe. It can often be used in conjunction with physical therapy and rehabilitation. If you have an injury history and have cleared Pilates with your doctor and physical therapist, please call our studio to consult an instructor about the best options.
